The Promises We Wear
Before we speak, our clothes do it for us. Too cliche? I know, that's what I thought for a long long time, until I actually started thinking. I realised this statement is not just a statement, it is filled with teeny tiny promises we make to ourselves, our souls, and our closets.
Every piece of clothing we wear is a declaration of how we intend to show up in the world, even on days we feel like nothing we dressed up as. When we put something on we are committing to a version of ourselves we are willing to show publicly. That crisp white shirt we look for when we need to get our life together? A promise of order. The oversized hoodie you melt into after a long day at work? A promise to your comfort zone. Even that one slightly-too-bold outfit you wore “just to see how it looks”? That was a promise to stop hiding. That’s the beauty of clothes, it doesn't demand perfection, it just asks us to stand by the promises we make. The promises we wear might be small, but they are powerful, and they follow us everywhere we go.
We are accountable for every promise we make.
Loved ittttt!!!.
