Red Carpet Fashion Vs Off-duty Style
The realms of Red carpet fashion and Off-duty style are two distinct pages on either side of ‘The Fashion book’. Despite that, are the new age trends tearing these pages from either sides and sticking them together in center of the book. Maybe.
I will simplify the difference for you: You would not want to show up to the met-gala in a white tee and denim pants (You will most likely never be invited again), neither would you want to walk around on the streets of New York in a dramatic (uncomfortable) Schiaparelli gown, if you are then you are probably on your way to the Red carpet.
Red Carpets give opportunities to celebrities to showcase their personalities through their style and show off their so-called “Wealth”. Furthermore, the designers, stylists, makeup artists, hair stylists, and photographers grab the opportunity to display their talent on these red carpets. Red carpet fashion exemplifies high-end glamour. Its the thoughtfully planned ensembles that are intricately embroidered and elaborate gowns, tailored suits, and everything avant-garde you can possibly think of, as well as some that you never thought of. This is the time when all celebrities and influencers go out of their comfort zone and experiment with various patterns, structures, colours, materials, etc.
Well, well, well, now there is the Off-duty style. Is the off-duty style actually off-duty style? It was, when you could wear a simple hoodie and shorts and run around while the paparazzi is running behind you, I know who you remember when I say this, Diana Spencer aka Princess Diana. But does Meghan Markel dress the same as her mother-in-law, when she is off duty? I mean, at least I have never seen her in a sweatshirt and shorts since she became a royal. Or, do you remember an entire bottega Veneta campaign was Kendall Jenner’s paparazzi photos when she was supposedly “OFF-DUTY” (while she was on a dinner with her friends, on the way to her sisters birthday party, etc.). Well, it seems the trends are changing, and off-duty style is not off-duty anymore. Above all, the streets of New York, LA, Paris, Milan and every major city you can think of has become a red carpet.
To sum up, Red carpet fashion and Off duty style, are worlds apart. But both have become an integral component in the careers of many from celebrities and their stylists to the paparazzi and lifestyle/Fashion Magazines, Influencing trends and designer aspirations.
Love this! Kendall Jenner’s 'off-duty' looks are basically red carpet now. Celebs are totally blurring the lines between high fashion and street style. It made me realise that fashion isn’t justt for big events anymore, celeb’s everyday looks are becoming just as curated and bold. Your take on this is super fresh and definitelyy got me thinking about how fashion is changing. Great breakdown!
